As few as 50 years ago Gerard might have been locked up as a madman, sadly. I commented before I started reading that I was going to love this, and I did. I do. It is just everything I love in an historical fiction. Your knowledge of all the prime Gothic novelists makes my heart swell. I love this so, so much =)
