Ahahaha. When I got to the end when Captain Toro introduced himself and his first officer I squealed and clapped. Good thing it's just me in the house right now. ;) I figured that they were going to meet up with Ray and Bob on The Continent, but this is EVEN BETTER.
It seems weird to start a comment talking about the ending, but seriously the only thing missing here was Ray and Bob; this fic is just *excellent*. It's very much a gothic novel, with contemporary sensibilities. I love how carefully you develop the setting - Way Manor feels like a real place, almost more of an extra character than setting, tbh. You developed the suspense and mystery deftly - the pacing is absolutely perfect. I love how tightly you focus on the relationships between Frank and the Way brothers - they are so complex and develop with such care. It's a beautiful thing to watch unfurl. Two scenes that really struck me: when Gerard is showing his paintings to Frank, and Frank realizes that no one would get to see all of that art... ugh. That made my chest ache. And when they are standing out on the moor, looking back at the house, looking up at the stars - really, the whole trip outside has a feeling of grand exhilaration to it.
Anyway, I loved these fic. Thank you so much for sharing it.
